Our annual ‘Stand Up to AKU’ night is rapidly approaching and here at the AKU Society, we are all very excited. On Sunday 9th June, we have four fantastic comedy acts performing at the Hot Water Comedy Club in the centre of Liverpool. The fabulous Pam Ford is hosting the night; she is sure to shock the audience with her outrageous jokes.
We are busy preparing the night to make sure it is a comedy spectacular. We will also be hosting a raffle on the night. Each ticket will cost £1 and go to the AKU Society. We have our raffle prizes ready and are now giving you a sneak peek into what we have on offer!
Firstly, we have two tickets for the Waterloo Beer festival on July the 4th at Old Christchurch in Liverpool. What better way to spend your summer days drinking real ale and beer from across the country?
The Tate Liverpool has very kindly donated four tickets to their Kieth Harring exhibition which opens on the 14th of June. Keith Harring was a prolific artist and LGBT/AIDS campaigner whose style defined the 1980’s pop art scene. He emerged from the New York street art underground and his work is instantly recognisable. The Tate’s exhibition includes 85 of his large, vibrant pieces and includes sculptures. One not to be missed.
We also have a family pass for the British Music Experience based next to the iconic Liver building. The British Music Experience tells the story of British music through costumes, instruments, performance and memorabilia. There are items from Beatles to Bowie from Adele and Oasis. A rocking day out.
We have a delicious baked goodie on offer from Rough Hand Made in the iconic Albert docks Liverpool. Rough Hand Made is a boutique bakery that makes pastries, cakes, buns and bread. Freshly made on the day of the Comedy Night, you will leave with a yummy surprise!
We have a coffee and cake voucher from Bean There Coffee Shop, an independent coffee shop south of Liverpool. A great chance to catch up with a friend or relative and enjoy a slice of tasty cake.
Why not go out and see Liverpool a bit more? We have a family pass for the L
iverpool Sights City and Beatles tour. A guided open top bus tour where you can Learn about the vibrant history of Liverpool while also learning about where the fab four lived and played. See all of Liverpool’s historical sites and the childhood homes of John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
