AKU Counselling

Living with AKU can be stressful and challenging in all sorts of ways. It can impact on how you feel about yourself, your relationships or your life generally. Although friends and family can be very supportive, it is not always easy to talk to people you are close to about difficult thoughts and feelings.

Talking to a counsellor can be a way of helping you cope with, and understand more about, any difficult thoughts or feelings that you may have. It can provide a space to talk through fears, worries or difficult experiences and find new ways of coping.

The AKU Society provides a free, confidential Telephone and Online Counselling Service for all patients and family members. Our professional counsellors are all rare disease specialists with an understanding of AKU.

If you are interested in counselling, or have any questions, please contact [email protected] or 01727 752147.

If emailing, please check your spam/junk folder if you haven’t received a reply after 5 working days. If phoning please state that you are enquiring about counselling via the AKU Society.

Please note, unfortunately we are only able to offer counselling for AKU patients based in the UK.
