It’s now more than a week since our Christmas appeal launched. Thank you to the people who have donated already. Your donations will help us fund our vital counselling service available for free for all AKU patients in the UK. One of the ways we have reached our supporters in the UK and beyond is by sending them a letter along with a postcard. Below you can see the postcard and letter in full. You can donate here.

Dear friend of The AKU Society,

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted many AKU patients’ mental health. Some older patients, and those with other health conditions, are even having to socially shield themselves.

Numerous people with AKU have told us that they are worried about leaving their homes at the moment and are feeling increasingly anxious.

Living with AKU can be isolating. Now, with the National AKU Centre (NAC) and patient workshops cancelled because of the pandemic, they are more isolated than ever.

This is why we have started a digital counselling service for AKU patients to access for free. Funds are limited, however, and we need your help to keep this service going.

For just £25 you will fund a counselling session for someone with AKU – helping them overcome isolation and loneliness during these uncertain times.

You can donate on the website at www.akusociety.org. or send us a cheque or cash with the included stamped addressed envelope.

Your support will help AKU patients’ Body and Mind this Christmas.

Thank you, and I hope you have a happy Christmas despite the current situation.

Nick Sireau,
Chair and CEO, The AKU Society.

Thank you again to ever who has donated or is yet to. We cannot continue to offer life-changing support and help to AKU patients everywhere without your generosity.

If you donate £5 or more to our Christmas campaign, you will be automatically entered into our prize draw for a fantastic hamper worth £20 courtesy of our friends BreakUpBoxes!
