Our Counsellors

All our counsellors work for RareMinds CIC and are registered with either British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy  or United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy and practice according to their Codes of Ethics and Practice.

Kym Winter 

Kym has over 25 years’ experience as a psychotherapist, consultant and therapy services manager in a variety of settings including for charities, NHS and higher education.

She is also the Founder and Director of the not for profit organisation RareMinds, that raises awareness of the psychological impact of rare disease and provides specialist counselling and emotional wellbeing services to rare disease organisations.

David Phipps

David  has over 12 years’ experience working for IAPT, GP surgeries, CRUSE, and hospital/residential psychotherapy services. He has had a long-term interest in supporting those living with physical health conditions to live well, and now works primarily online with rare or chronic disease patients across the world.

Rebecca Hargreaves

Rebecca is our Associate Counsellor with a particular interest in the psychological impact of health conditions in the family as a whole, and on young people. She originally worked as a nurse for over 20 years. As well as being a counsellor for the AKU Society, she also works as a Counselling Service Lead in a large secondary school.
